Fish the coast

The dock is part of the trip.

Bring your boat or ask us to line up a guide. The two-slip dock anchors early launches, care for the catch, and fishing after dark.

Why we love Sargent as a fishing base

There is always another kind of water to explore.

From our ICW dock, we can choose the shorelines and shell of East Matagorda Bay, slip into skinny water around Caltrap Lake and Caney Creek, or explore east toward the San Bernard River. Longer days open up the Colorado River and West Matagorda Bay in the other direction. Redfish and speckled trout lead the inshore story, with flounder, black drum, and sheepshead in the mix.

We love the working waterfront and the local knowledge it takes to fish this changing coast. Gulf access through Mitchell’s Cut can make an offshore day possible when conditions and the boat permit. Each trip has its own route, and that variety keeps drawing us back.

Across the bay, Texas Parks and Wildlife describes more than 6,300 acres of protected Matagorda Peninsula spanning roughly 14 miles between East Matagorda Bay and the Gulf. Explore the coastal landscape ↗
